Back in November I had a client scheduled in and their model didn’t show. It was to be a shoot over two days, so the entire shoot was cancelled. Given that the space was already booked and paid for, I decided to make the most of the situation.
I text my little sister and asked if she wanted to come to Toronto for a sleepover, and model for some photos the next day. The next day was a school day, (yes, I know, bad big sister encouraging her to skip school, right?) so I figured it might be a hard sell. The thing you need to know about my sister is that she LOVES school. To my utter delight and surprise she responded right away with a big YES.
When I was in college for photography my sister used to let me photograph her all the time. She loved being in front of the camera. She was quite the little ham. But as she grew up, she started to HATE having her photo taken and would rarely let me (or anyone for that matter) photograph her. So to have her agree to come hang out and let me shoot her was pretty exciting.
She’s such a gorgeous young lady, both inside and out, and a continued source of inspiration for me. My close girl friends that have gotten to know my sister, always talk about how wise she is beyond her years. She really is. The things she has figured out for herself, in her 14 short years is pretty amazing. Many adults could learn a thing or two from her. She will definitely be great in Life. That I am sure of.
